John F. Kelly former lieutenant of Police died at his home 1283 North Capitol Street yesterday morning. He was seventy five and the last member of the original Metropolitan police force. Funeral probable Monday with his eldest son from Illinois arriving for the service. Captain T Brooke Amiss to lead. police pallbearers to stand guard. Kelly served forty five years in the department from private to acting superintendent. Twice married, father of eleven, affiliated with Knights of St Patrick Ancient Order of Hibernians and Jolly Fat Men's Club. He was born in Georgetown November 10, 181. He enlisted in the Union army for ninety days before joining police in November following. Funeral arrangements to be announced.
