Money halts divorce in Vanderbilt case with million dollar alimony fight
Special to The Washington Post. In New York on April 10 1948 refree David McClure in the Alfred G Vanderbilt absolute divorce suit indicates the report will favor the divorce but money matters dominate. Mrs Vanderbilt seeks a 10 000 000 settlement while maintaining equal voice in raising their son William. Negotiations falter over securities valued around 2900000 offered earlier by Vanderbilt, with both sides pushing for the larger 10 000 000. The testimony covers marital strife dating back over a year and questions about fidelity and accommodations with co respondents alleged. Filings note other notices and funeral notices follow in the same period.
