Land fraud trial details reveal collusion claims and forged documents
Stenographer Marion Doyle testified in the Hyde Benson Dimond Schneider land fraud case about a typewritten division of proceeds and signatures to the agreement. She identified Hyde and Benson signatures scarred by the San Francisco earthquake and described letters used to influence land transactions and officials. An effort to advance an appellate hearing for John A. Benson faced opposition, while Kinbury was stopped with land records en route to Washington.

Investments in Laces Stir National Debate in White House
Darvin J. Messerale of New York and Representative Law pressed the President yesterday on aiding the unemployed as the Ethical-Social League voices concern. A special commission reports wages as the main barrier to domestic lace and cotton goods growth, noting U.S. wages 3 to 4 times higher than Europe. Imports fueled the trade, with U.S. lace goods valued at over six million dollars last year, 90 percent imported. European rivals include St Gall Calais Nottingham Plauen Belgium and British India, where weekly wages range 38 cents to 12 dollars versus 18 to 30 dollars in the United States.
