School Board Defends Expenditures Amid Cost Arguments
Captain James F. Oyster defended education spending, arguing extravagances are not a fault of the board and criticizing Congress for considering a bill that would shift control to commissioners. He cited city needs for police, fire, and highways funding while noting districts with larger funds sometimes show less favorable results. The board tabled the matter for a future meeting as it called the plan to move control into a Commissioner's hands into question.
