Report notes October term of committee session now in progress. Pook claims from various townships will also be allowed this week as election casters prepare for new ballot provisions.
A pastors alliance meeting led by Rev. ward, at the study of Rev. ter warth day, reorganized and elected Samuel sic and Rev. J. Hudgins as secretary. C8 WAB president was chosen amid the reorganization. A drowning incident is noted amid the meeting events.
Emmett Haley once pitched for the Washington team and in the Central leagues has taken a pastorate in Yankeetown Indiana this week. The former ballplayer, who served in wartime, now begins a peacetime role as pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Yankeetown.
The Supreme Court upheld a town clerk authority to act as a judicial officer in enforcing local speed limits on trains within town limits. The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad challenge failed, with the court noting no necessity for a dedicated court to grant such powers and affirming municipalities can confer judicial powers on town officials.
Supt. B Scoville attended a time card meeting in Cincinnati with B and C 8 W officers to arrange a preliminary card for the B and C and W. A general time card meeting will be held in Baltimore on the 13th inst to finalize the schedule with few changes expected. The new time card is expected to affect operations about the 22nd of next month.
A young preacher named Haley is assigned to the pastorate at Yankeetown in Warrick County and will also minister to two other churches nearby. He will deliver his first sermon at Yankeetown and may staff the circuit if duties require. Friends wish him well in his new ministry.
Mrs Anna Hughey widow of fireman Hughey who died after trying to jump from an engine is mourned. Their death leaves three young children orphaned. Funeral held with services at Beat End M E church and burial at Oak Grove cemetery. Children taken in by relatives and neighbors amid offers of help with care.
Rev. Ewis Carroll spent Sunday with O E Peek and family. Miss Bess Price left for a week with relatives in Henry Prentiss lost a valuable item. Miss Pearl Thomas visited Gerald and Edith Horral this week. Blanche Case and several others were guests of Mary and Joseph Sunday evening. Sunday school convention will be held at Bethel Sunday at 7 oclock with talks and special music.
A late night confrontation at a Vincennes distillery plant led to Will Engel being shot and assaulted by two men who lured him from a back room. Engel, robbed of about $20, fired two shots in an attempt to defend himself, but the robbers escaped as witnesses called for help and the scene went quiet. Police pursued a vague lead involving a hidden assailant.
Clubkeeper Jacob Clark accused of selling liquor to a minor in Can'pelburg. Olive Kelly, boxkeeper, testified. Clarke pleaded guilty before Mayor, with fines and costs assessed.
The ninth annual meeting of the Woman’s Society began at the MY. E. church in Princeton with Rev. H W Steen of Carroll presiding. Officers elected include Rev. Ey Audgins of Washington as moderator and a plan for future synod conjunctions was set.
Indiana Supreme Court overturns a lower court ruling in a will dispute involving Joseph Walt. The decision says belief in hidden treasure guarded by spirits or witchcraft does not prove insanity and upholds that rational examination can assess mental fitness.
Sunday school workers meet at Bethel as chapter organizers plan a convention. The event gathers leaders from the township with Rev. and other clergy to coordinate Sunday education efforts.
