A group of boys smeared red paint on John Harbin's snow white horse near Veales Creek. The act, repeated after Easter, left the horse red and white spotted. neighbors and officers monitor the case hoping for evidence to prosecute those responsible.
The text notes jealousy among men over ownership and identifies Mr. Harbin as a prominent farmer living about a half mile south of Weales Creek church. Local officers have been consulted but no arrests have occurred due to insufficient evidence against the suspects.
Police search continues for Katie and Tillie Casper two West Washington girls who reportedly left for an uncle's Evansville home but did not arrive relatives express worry while some locals say they are not worried Katie works at the Hyatt hotel and Tillie at Evansville both daughters of Mrs Nick Casper of 809 West Van Trees Street.
Flood damage creeps across Greene county as White river swells flooding low lands near Elliston. Contractors Burton Albertson Huffetetter and Hart idle with pumps and gravel supply run dry, delaying work by weeks as rains from Indianapolis and north of Washington keep waters high and threaten crops.
The Washington Township graduates will likely not have a commencement this year due to the trustee’s financial shortfall. Covington capitalists show hope a large rolling mill may locate in the city but a key investor, Charles E. Voke, contemplates withdrawal. The Commercial Club awaits a decision, considering contracting to hold the land and seeking other capitalists if Voke leaves. The club plans to act cautiously, aiming to locate a Covington factory and attract additional deals with $12,600 on hand.
A letter from B. & C. S W. Industrial Agent Tru ed ley expresses regret that a rolling mill plant is not guaranteed. The city believes with funds and land an equally good plant can be built locally and awaits further factory proposals.
A May 28 wind and rain storm in Trainon Indiana caused lightning to strike a telephone line and reach the John Wadsworth home near Ragleaville. The resulting fire was promptly extinguished with light damage. Nearby items note social visits and a child's death at the Van Winkle family graveyard.
Frank Carter was arraigned this morning and pleaded not guilty to shooting at Anna White with intent to kill. Roy Greenwood the young accused ran away and was captured near Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and returned to Plainfield Boys Reform School by Officer Copeland after being on parole.
