Miss Desmond, tied to McCarthy, plans a Vincennes Evansville trip to join a stock company. She says she tried to leave him multiple times over a year of illness and alleges desertion to avoid settling a policy and door receipts from her work.
In Society Clecles the Mascot Cooking Club will be entertained this evening by Mrs. Baugh O'Donnell at her East Walnut street home. Husbands and gentlemen friends are invited for an enjoyable evening. A dance at the Masonic hall last evening was among the season's best. About ten attendees.
About thirty friends gathered at Mia Day's home to celebrate her sixty first birthday. Guests enjoyed games conversation a late supper and brief talks as the out-of-town visitors joined local attendees in the festive evening.
Charles G. Sefrit editor of the Herald returned from Kyle Lake City after visiting his brother Frank. He is doing well. The Sefrits expect to visit Washington in June.
William F Wagner a well known B and C engineer died Wednesday morning at his home. He was a member of the local Kiwanis lodge and the first member to die in this manner since the order was instituted here three and a half years ago. Knights from the city will attend the funeral at 9 20 Friday morning at Saint Ambrose in Sey amour.
Fire destroyed a tenant house and barn owned by J. W. Wilson about sixty rods from his dwelling. The blaze, discovered around 1 am, likely incendiary though origin unknown. Loss estimated at 2000 with 1500 insured. buildings near B and O SW railway, contents included farming implements.
Wil helm indicates the governor is unlikely to call a meeting of the Legislature to repeal or modify law provisions. It is anticipated that thirty or more attorneys will attend. The conference is planned to last two days, with a broad legal discussion anticipated.

The senior class of the local high school presents its annual class play The Nephew as Uncle at the Peoples School Building Friday afternoon. Cast includes Colonel Dorsigny Uncle, Captain Dorsigny nephew, Lord Balcour, Lady Mirville, and various servants and musicians perform solos and piano pieces. last literary exercises reveal a storytelling segment titled The Noted Sniggles Family.
At the Ideal Furniture plant this morning Bimpeon Boyd was nearly torn by a rip saw. His sleeve caught a cog, tearing flesh from his right wrist area. helpers freed him and he returned to work later after buying new drops.
Lizzie Duile of Vincennes raved that her children held fourteen thousand dollars and diamonds from her will. She damaged a neighbor’s windows with rocks, carried water to four porches, and fled before police. A commission declared her sane and she will be sent to Evansville.
The Globe reports the hotel formerly run by John Monger is leased by James B Brewer. The building will be remodeled with new fittings and furniture, repainted and completed to become a top rival, offering rooms at one dollar.
A person has moved into a new office on Southeast Second Street near the Spink Mill. The office is described as one of the best equipped in the city with a specialized construction for office use.
