The June term of the Daviess Circuit Court opened with two prisoners pleading guilty to petit larceny. Thomas F. Gibbon received a sentence of one to three years at Jeffersonville reformatory. Julius Buffington was sentenced to thirty days in the county jail plus costs. Others pleaded not guilty or await trial on related charges. River permits pumping as White River falls for gravel work
White River has fallen after the last flood and pumping of gravel at Elliston resumed today since the water is now low enough to not interfere with machinery. Several cars of travel are expected to arrive in the city over the E and L Tuesday morning and contractors plan to resume spreading metal Tuesday afternoon. Grading work, paused during gravel shortages, is nearly finished and gravel spreading can proceed rapidly.

Weaver Dead Prominent Wheatland Merchant and Coal Operator
George Weaver a leading Wheatland merchant and coal company founder died Sunday morning from kidney trouble after a brief illness. He operated a store and coal mine near Wheatland and helped organize the Washington Wheatland Coal Co. He leaves a wife Ida Smeltzer and three children. Burial was at Wheatland Cemetery this afternoon.
