Obituary recalls Hugh Barr a highly esteemed, diligent, charitable man of Bruceville, born 1817 in Indiana. He lived a long life of public service, owned land, worked in banking, and supported neighbors. Barr died at his Flora Street home after a brief illness, leaving a large family and community mourning his loss. Funeral and burial planned for Thursday at Brucaville.
Christian Barr, a devout supporter of many congregations, died after amassing 2130,000 in wealth including 8,000 acres valued at 105,000, 5,000 in bank stock, and 20,000 in personal estate. Funeral at Christian church with Rev. E. W. Brickert. burial in Bruceville. Noted for giving over 5,000 dollars to a new Christian church in this city and for supporting church building funds.
