A large explosion destroyed the magazine at the United States Cartridge Company plant in Tewksburg Massachusetts. About twenty five people were killed and around fifty injured. Fires swept nearby buildings and a wide area suffered wreckage. the blast was felt forty miles away in Boston.
Threshing Accident Near Hyatt Station
Perry Byrne, a threshing machine employee, suffered a severe hand injury while clearing a choke on the Doda Williams farm near Hyatt station. The injury required amputation after entanglement in the machinery. Dr. O K McKittrick performed the operation. Byrne, a young man living near Byatt, is described as industrious.

Elijah Gowdy, former B and O S W engineer, recovered his horse and buggy in McLeansboro Illinois after two weeks. He brought a dead man’s picture home which some say resembles Joe Burton of Petersburg, a horse trader and gambler, who was jailed for gambling and died in Mes Leansboro. Burton, alias Myers, may be the stranger linked to the theft and death.

Death of Brison Thixton From Consumption at 52
Brison Thixton died this morning at his nephew Edward Martin’s home on East Van Trees after several weeks of consumption. A well known mechanic and former employee of Joseph Arebeart, he had lived here several years. His sister Mrs. James Mattingly is the only close relative in the city. Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at Edward Martin’s residence with burial at Bethany cemetery.
