Murder Shocks Washington Indiana Bailey Surrenders to Sheriff

In a grim west end killing, Clifton Baum shot Nora E. Baum in their Walnut Street home setting off a citywide manhunt. Baum surrendered later that day to county officers, was jailed, and faces first degree murder charges with an inquest planned to determine motive.

Honor Dead Senator in Indiana Legislature

A motion by Edward P. Elsner, senator from Jackson County, called for a committee to honor Dr. Henry Gera who died while serving as senator from Daviess and Pike counties. Lieutenant Governor O’Nett named the committee, including Elan Frederick Van Nuys John D Faulkner James Porter and William M. Anite from Crawfordsville. The report follows in the Indiana weekly record.
