City council held a stormy session over a fire station on the B and O W lot amid bids and film of a site inquiry. The meeting saw amendments, a disputed motion, and bids from Hovey and Bruner, Feggans and Sons, Robert Brown, and W W Van Trees with a total cost about $217.80.
The city council with the exclusive session after the regular meeting reviewed street sign samples and bids. L. D. Hovey and James B. Brucer were contracted to furnish all signs at 35 cents each, with Smiley estimating 11 intersections requiring 622 signs.
At St Patrick s church near Corring this morning Bert Hughes and Miss Rosa Conlin were united in marriage by Rev Father Curran. Hughes is a young farmer of Reeve township and a son of Ea Hughes.
Charles Turk, a Steele township farmer, and Elisa Byap, daughter of Mrs Mary Bran, were married this morning by Rev Fr Maber at Be Michaels Church north of Montgomery. They will settle on a farm in Steele township.
Dr George Knapp a Vincennes specialist and brother of Dr A B Knapp was stopped by two highwaymen on a road near Princeton Sunday night. He surrendered $8 in money and some valuables after they forced him to hand over a watch hidden in an overcoat pocket.
The Elke lodge considers bringing a minstrel company for a private show in their lodge room. An agent for the Rory Boys concert company is in town to meet tonight and decide the matter.
Three husky tramps assaulted B and C W patrolman Huff in the shop yards Monday evening. One struck him over the head with a cane, knocking him down. Officers Hart Kermode and Holland pursued, overpowering the trio. all three were brought before Mayor Clark and fined.
Two years after a B and O W fireman died when his engine derailed at O Fallon Illinois due to a bad switch. This afternoon administrator John Hughey filed a $10 000 damages suit against the B and O and W with Padgett Padgett as attorneys. Hughey left a widow and several children.
A B and O 8 W train from Washington to Vincennes covered nineteen miles in seventeen minutes Sunday. The engine, driven by Engineer Lynch, propelled the passenger train at fast speed.
Two young girls leaving the Carnegie library on West Main Street were chased by two drunken men. Patrolmen Gates and Walker intervened after a fight at Raycrafts saloon. One man fined $1 for concealed weapons and the other fined with costs for intoxication. Both claimed to be E & I brakemen but were later found not to be. They were associated with Supt. Jordan's rock pile gang.
John Auberry moves family from Reeve township to the city. George Flynn remains a longtime bus driver for Helphenstine & Coleman. Henry Sahm returns home from Linton mines. Harvey Gray moves from near Main Street to East South Street. Miss Winnifred Karr travels to Chicago for military openings. Miss Josephine Hook heads to Linton for a millinery job. Chas Kidwell marks his twenty fifth birthday, still single. Spink's Opera House hosts a single attraction, with Le Roya company to follow. Prof. Y E Dilliard visits from Linton. Fred Hewitt asks Woodmen of the World to sponsor a carnival in late April. Hewitt Carnival may open in Videogues in May. A Cochran death reveals $19,800 in female sacks mostly eid od and dollars, with a $1 denomination. large sums in three cent pieces suggesting a fifty-year savings habit.
The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad announces a large purchase of 335 consolidation freight locomotives 35 passenger locomotives 46 wheel pacing locomotives and 0 000 freight cars. The total expected cost is around 12 000 000 000 and 13 000 are slated for initial delivery with completion dates hoped for.

A grand four hour conference of the Machinists Union drew a large local crowd with invitations extended to out of town guests. Meanwhile Mrs. Stephen Fornewald celebrated her birthday with twenty Ladies Aid members at her Meridian street home.
