Judgment Affirmed in Walker Estate Damages Suit

Appellate court upheld the Daviess Circuit Court verdict awarding the Nancy J. Walker estate damages from the E I railroad after a runaway near a crossing left Mrs Walker dead. The ruling directs about 1103 dollars paid to John J Walker and his daughter. The Sullivan Circuit Court ruling in Houghton v Actransurance is reversed.

Keller Not Recovering From Wreck Injuries

John Keller, a Washington engineer for Southern Pacific, remains in critical condition in a San Francisco hospital after a wreck near Wadaworth Nevada. His condition worsened after a stomach blood vessel burst, complicating his recovery and prompting his mother to visit his bedside.

Sanitary Officer Reports No Contagious Disease

Sanitary officer Jordan Say Washington is free from contagious disease for the first time in six months. He notes typical disease cases for scarlet fever and diphtheria but reports no quarantine and about five hundred cases elsewhere.

A Chinese Honeymoon Arrives for Washington Show

The Chinese Honeymoon company arrived at 11:30 this morning from Paducah Kentucky and will perform at Spink's opera house tonight. It is billed as the largest show to visit Washington in history and is expected to draw a large crowd.

Brakeman Loses Foot In Rail Yard Accident

Claude Chenoweth brakeman was badly injured when his foot was caught between two freight car bumpers while searching for tramps near Sandoval Indiana. His foot required amputation and the incident may end his career as a railroad worker. Policeman John Babrick assisted at the scene and Chenoweth, who lives in Flora, is currently hospitalized.

Police Court Arrest in Assault Case

Joan Garner was arrested this morning on a charge of assault and battery on the son of Mrs. Malinda Arnett at the west end. Garner assaulted the lad Tuesday and pleaded not guilty before Squire Wallace. He was fined and costs 310, which he paid.

Gravel Road Petitions Circulation in Washington

A general gravel road petition covering about twenty miles of main roads and several cross streets will be circulated next week in Washington. It includes extensions of current roads and urgently needed routes such as Sugarland and River bridge.
