Neidig Sentenced for Forgery in Indiana Circuit Court
Frank Neidig pleaded guilty in the Indiana circuit court and drew a term of two to fourteen years in the Jeffersonville Reformatory. A $10 fine and disfranchisement for five years were ordered. Neidig forged his aunt Sophia Keller’s name on a $100 check at Washington National Bank, then fled to Terre Haute where he was arrested for intoxication. The bank will likely absorb Keller’s loss. Sheriff Harman will transport Neidig to the reform school, the first under the new sheriff.

James Turner, longtime switch engine worker, died in East St. Louis at 65 from erysipelas linked to foot cancer. Vincennes Commercial reports County Treasurer Edward Dresmen acted promptly after a letter from a Knox County resident offering to pay back taxes on a Washington Indiana note for 200 dollars dated January 6 1909. The note was recorded on the tax duplicate and the amount covered by the taxpayer. The writer is described as a well known man.
