Excitement in Plainville Saloon Battle Over Insult

A saloon brawl in Plainville Monday night escalated after Louis Powell, the bartender, insulted by Louis Powell, struck Lawyer with a ball bat and threatened with a rifle. Lawyer returned the next morning to press charges of assault with intent to kill. The saloon’s front plate glass was smashed in the fight.

Mattingly Wins Suit Over City Half Lot Dispute

In a Circuit Court decision Judge Houghton ruled in favor of William H. Mattingly, denying the city’s claim to a half lot at City Hall. No Tax On Cemeteries Bill Passes Senate

The Hewitts vaudeville troupe opened at Spink's Opera House Monday night but drew poor attendance. Mr and Mrs Hewitt were the only redeeming feature, while the rest of the company arrived from New Ge Modday morning. The manager dismissed the company and canceled engagements citing damaged reputation as the cause. The show had been booked for several weeks.
