Indiana Supreme Court Upholds Local Option Law
The Indiana Supreme Court declares the county local option law constitutional in the McPherson v. State case written by Judge John V. Hadley. Dissenters Justice Oscar H. Montgomery and Judge James H. Jordan file opinions as saloons anticipated the decision and some prepared licenses before county votes. The ruling affirms the act's title sufficiency and authority to regulate liquor sales while noting no determination on when the law takes effect.
