Ethel Eastman aged fifteen has vanished from home near Washington after scribbling a farewell that she would leave and not be found. Her father W F Eastman reports the search active with police and neighbors. she took little money, wore a tan coat and fascinator, with hazel eyes and a scar on her right hand.
Stella V Wood was granted a divorce from Dr. Robert Wood of Washington after alleging he demanded money three days after their April 1 marriage and abandoned her a month later. The wife stated he did not receive the money.
City stores issue elaborate window displays and hire extra help as two weeks remain before Christmas. Merchants urge early buying to avoid last minute rush and encourage shoppers to study local advertisements to prepare lists and compare offerings.
The Elks bought a striking forest scene featuring a large American elk in the foreground. Burnt wood frame with elk skin patch and antlers above the image. the piece was purchased from F. B. Fornwald Furniture Store and is displayed in Mr. Fornwald's storefront window, drawing considerable attention.
Benjamin Rhoades shot and killed Lemuel Lynch at the Bedford home after Lynch visited to see Rhoades’ niece against the uncle’s wishes. Rhoades fired with a double barrel shotgun, Lynch died instantly, and Rhoades was arrested. The injured young woman was prostrated by the tragedy.
The Hen dricks club of Evansville will hold a Jackson day banquet on January 8 in Evansville for about 400 members and visiting Democrats from across the state. The event will be a First district affair with many prominent Democrats invited, including Governor Folk of Missouri.
Washington camp 63 Woodmen of the World has elected new officers for the coming year led by Past C C Samuel S Cox and C C Edward Streeter. The council discharged a west end fire station committee and debated buying a lot at west Main and Eighth streets for the project. Councilman Hopkins opposed the bid, while others supported the purchase amid talks of alternate sites and a $700 to $800 price. The session also weighed a East End fire station proposal from Finley 8 Brooke and an 18 month extension for the Vincennes Washington and Eastern Railway road completion.

Police received a call from William Lindley reporting the theft of a fine six year old grey horse from the barn on Sunday night. A saddle and bridle were also taken. Lindley has no clues and officers in nearby towns are alerted.

On a sworn statement the hearing of the case against David B. Sherrick, former Indiana state auditor, was deferred until January of the next year.
Jeff Bailey, James Boling, McDonald, and Sherman Elmore face charges after a rock pile incident. Boling left to inspect a buggy while Elmore slipped away to a closet. McDonald and others reportedly fled toward the river Marysville as authorities pursue further indictments and jail for the group.
Congressman John C. Chaney outlines a campaign to obtain an appropriation for Wabash River improvement south of Terre Haute. He cites engineers' reports and plans to remove snags and dredge, arguing the project would aid western Indiana farmers and tie into river transportation growth. He seeks support from Indiana's delegation.
