Maud Ballow a colored domestic in Volpert’s saloon faced assault and battery charges after an affidavit filed in Squire Kendall’s court this afternoon. The report notes the defendant, a resident near Blockade Street, attended the session as details of the incident emerged.
The council met at city hall with Mayor Wilson and most members to review an ordinance granting Washington Central Heating a thirty year franchise to supply hot water and heating. Mrs Burris of Eladra is in the neighborhood cabvasing for fruit trees. James Padget and daughter Migs Clara were at Washington on business Saturday. A M Chandir was at Washington Friday. Mrs Enna Chandler returned from Chicago Tuesday where she had attended the encampment. Valentine Strange returned from the fair yesterday. He Hasing proved uereast lying health. Harry Crawford returned to the Charleston festival where he had been to attend his father’s fitness.

Malaria fever illness affects residents, a fox dog valued by J P Enness is mentioned, and several social events including lawn suppers occur. A seven to eight month old child dies from brain fever with funeral services at Union. A wood time and gathering entertainments are noted along with farm area activities and taming sorghum.
