New Barn Burns Near Otterbein Church
A large new barn on the White farm in Steele township near Otterbein church burned around ten this morning. The building was totally destroyed and the house nearby may have burned as well. The owner Robert Keith faced a heavy loss with two horses and 200 bushels of wheat inside, plus 100 bushels of corn and farm implements. no insurance covered the horses or grain. Incendiary origin is suspected as no one was home and the fire broke out in the absence of protection. Robert Cannon, who had gone to town for a show, learned of the blaze from a neighbor around noon and hurried home.
