Poison by Mistake Strikes Jasper Man in City
Lawrence Scherer of Jasper and his brother Robert were traveling from Linton to Jasper when a bottle of bichloride of mercury tablets was taken accidentally. After swallowing the tablets in a city back room he fell deathly ill and was treated by Dr Parr, who said the dose could kill several people if not treated promptly. Scherer recovered enough to leave for home the next day.

Eliza Colbert wife of Letcher Colbert colored died Wednesday evening at her West End home from Brights disease. She was 37 and leaves a husband and several children. A member of the A. M. E. church she will be buried in Hewins’ cemetery after funeral Friday at 2 PM.
