Samuel Wallace sixteen year old son of Mr and Mrs Baker Wallace of Veale township died Friday night apparently from a burst blood vessel. Coroner McKittrick will hold an inquest to determine the cause. Burial Sunday at Bethel Church at three.
Special to Tax Gazette Harry Perkhiser a B and O S W brakeman from Seymour was fatally injured this afternoon in Mostcosery Indiana when his legs were severed after he fell under a freight train while releasing a running switch. He leaves a wife and several children. He formerly lived at Canneburg and had worked at Seymour for years.
A Friday noon storm swept from Petersburg to nearby towns in a north east path about a mile wide. Washington escaped major damage due to terrain but county losses reach several thousand dollars as barns fences wires and trees were blown down. Repair crews restrung telephone and telegraph wires and began work.
In Franklin Indiana Timon Long his wife Emma and John Barnes all colored of Edinburg are jailed on kidnapping Mary Chambers wife of W R Chambers. Mary disappeared about two weeks ago with 1600 dollars of her husband s money. Chambers is the son of late John A Chambers a wealthy county citizen. The son faced a shooting incident recently and has a $10000 suit in circuit court against L A Farr for alienating his wife s affections.
A cyclone the Gazette calls the most destructive in years passed between Odon and Eaglesville noon Friday. It moved northeast about a mile wide damaging trees and farm buildings. Abe Strickler’s barn two miles south of Odon had its roof blown off trapping a cow. no other property damage reported at Oton Burns City or Ragiesville.
A noon Friday storm in Cornettsville Indiana caused widespread damage. Fences were blown down and several orchards ruined. W A Myers homestead roof was blown off on one side. no other buildings suffered major damage.
A severe late season storm struck Petersbvron Indiana on April 3. It demolished Gum Tree school and damaged multiple farms including Tucker Hughes McNeely Brenton Frank Finney Tislow Kinman properties. Injuries included a girl named Johnson and Mrs. Tucker. Timberland near the area suffered extreme losses with 100 acres ruined.
Seymour Shaner, a Harrison township farmer, was arrested this morning by police. The brief item notes his detention in connection with an unspecified court action, reflecting routine coverage of local policing events.
Constable Cheek faced a dog tax fine before Squire Bellams totaling 89.96 with costs suspended. Jacob Hodge and Frank Babrick were fined one cent plus costs for trespassing on Miss Josephine Fitzgibbon's land. Sol Chapman paid one dollar and costs for failure to pay dog tax before Squire Kellams.
A city attorney received a letter from Oklahoma claiming his name won a prize and asking fifteen cents for mailing papers. He sent the money expecting land but got a one dollar pin. The letter offered additional pins to gift friends for sixty cents a dozen.
Evangelist Neill leads Baptist revival with baptism of converts and three Sunday services at 10:30 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Rev. Spoonts of the Presbyterian and multiple church groups announce morning and evening sermons, Sunday school, Christian Endeavor, and receptions. A quarterly communion and member welcomes mark the Presbyterian session, with other churches hosting sermons on faith and community outreach.
Chief Car Inspector J W Curran of Cincinnati and Master Mechanic John Hair visited the Floral shops this week. Ray Allen of the freight office force returned Sunday from a trip to Washington relatives.

Practice began at the new athletic park known as the Davis ground on the north side of town. Washington prospects improve as Harry Welch shows strong in high jump and pole vault while Charlie Billsimer and Marion Johnson excel in discus. Several new members show promise though Joe Peek has quit school. The field features a quarter mile cinder track, plans for a fence with merchant advertising, and a May pennant competition for all classes.
