Registration law sparks suit over Iowa voter rules

Iowa Storm Turbulence Leaves Homes Damaged Tornado Hits Five Counties
Storm rakes eastern Iowa with tornadoes high winds and hail injuring at least two. A 50 mile path from Center Point to Dubuque County crosses multiple towns, causing farmstead destruction and collapsed buildings. Donald Hatch Jr and Frederick Dasenbrook were hospitalized for injuries. Authorities report damage to 20 to 30 farms with cedar rapids Marion and Iowa City reporting large hail and downed trees.

Patty Sojka was crowned Homecoming Queen for 1972 at Washington High School in a ceremony in the school auditorium. She was elected from six candidates, with ballots counted by Charles Morris of the Evening Journal, and was surprised by the announcement before joining the Homecoming parade and pep rally.
