Cooking or processing helps, but raw tomato freezing remains unsatisfactory for home use while quick freezing with liquid nitrogen is experimental. Frozen cooked tomatoes or juice are common, best results come from prime firm tomatoes processed quickly, and USDA guides offer home freezing instructions.
