Washington high school students have purchased activity tickets in full force this fall. As of today 270 or 70 percent had purchased tickets for the first semester. Each ticket entitles a student to attend twelve dollars and twenty five cents worth of events and admits them to four high school and four junior college football games eight basketball games the school newspaper three paid assemblies the junior class and junior college plays and the first installment on a high school annual.

Paper Carriers Have Fall Party
The 16 Evening Journal carrier boys and younger brothers held their annual fall party at the Dave Elder home in South Iowa. After a six o clock arrival, they enjoyed wieners baked beans potato chips and root beer followed by watermelon. Six prize winners from the summer delivery contest Frank Miller Jr David Orcutt Lawrence Barth John Winga Jr Tom Adam and Wayne Barnes were praised for perfect delivery records and each received a $5 prize. All attendees got complimentary theatre tickets.

Wellman Man Arrested for Drunken Driving
James M. McKenna, 52, Kinross, arrested by Constable Pete Neil after a wobbly car was seen west of Wellman. He waived preliminary hearing, posted $500 bail, and was ordered held to the Washington county grand jury. McKenna has a prior Keokuk county drunken driving conviction in 1942.
