W H Sale a 55 year old high school principal in Utica Kansas died after a Halloween type freshman initiation went wrong. An autopsy by Ness County Sheriff Harold Mellies found death caused by strangulation during the prank at an abandoned farmhouse. Sale agreed to stand with a noose as freshmen blindfolded were led to him and a light revealed a daubed face before he failed to respond and died en route to Ness County Hospital.
