Mr Wolfe and his son Edward planted corn in one week last spring starting Monday and finishing Saturday. The seed company expects to finish picking in similar time. Mrs Wolfe helped in long field days. Seed supply included anhydrous ammonia fertilizer and seed. The crop was power checked at two grains per 24 inches with 40 inch rows. An early variety is used in southern Iowa due to frost risk.

Humboldt to Host New Fertilizer Plant in Iowa

Roundup Of Mexican Immigrants Expands Across Four States
United States border patrol and immigration inspectors launched a large scale roundup of Mexican immigrants in Chicago. District Director Walter Sahli said 20 000 to 35 000 would be affected as operations extended into Wisconsin Indiana Michigan and northern Illinois with an airlift planned to return migrants to Mexico. Those who agree to depart will be given time while others will be shipped to Texas and then to Vera Cruz. Three Air Force borrowed C46 aircraft will assist the airlift. Migrants will be housed temporarily in a staging area and possibly jails while preparations continue.
