Rev. Robert Gray unites Miss Nettie B Smith and Hl. G Bennett at his home last evening. The couple, traveling with a photograph gallery outfit, plan a honeymoon to view scenery. The JourNal wishes them happiness and notes the newlyweds will be known as Mr and Mrs Hl. G Bennett.
A new boot-blacking business arrives in town with the young Jimmie McNeil, described as bright and capable. He claims to hail from New York and rode in from Chicago on break rods, planning a short stay before heading to San Francisco to visit relatives his late mother spoke of. She died in July.
Judge Dewey refused to revise his prior order to sell the New York store stock in bulk. Boies of Waterloo argued for setting aside the sale. The judge overruled Toles motion. Other cases included Steichter vs Stumpf settled with costs, and Washington vs Latta equity continued by agreement.
Miss Ella Stoll of Chicago designed a Bryan button showing a crown of thorns and a cross of gold with the word No in the center to oppose the crown with thorns and cross with gold line. She is linked to the Jt Metalist in Chicago and will market the button during the campaign.
Washington playgoers will see John Griffiths Faust at the Graham Opera House Monday evening. Praised in Kansas City and St Louis press as the finest presentation, Griffiths rises to new heights as the Prince of Darkness with novel scenic effects and church music. Seats are 25c to $1.00. Also included is an advertisement for Hall's Catarrh Cure by F J Cheney Co Toledo Ohio.
Miss Etta Maxwell and Mr Albert Douthitt wed at the bride’s home southeast of the city in a small ceremony led by Rev. Thompson of Crawfordsville United Presbyterian Church. The couple will reside in Ottumwa where Douthitt serves as Y M C A physical director.
Residents near the city joined a peach festival at Eckles farm to celebrate a bumper harvest of high quality fruit. City visitors enjoyed the event while noting the productive season and favorable yields since the settlement of Towa.
Several members of the Ancient Arabic Order, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, traveled to Oska loosa for a special work today. Many hailed from the Kaaba Temple of Davenport and wore partial garb of the order.
All grocery merchants sign a contract to close at eight o clock p m from September 28 through April 1. Shoppers are urged to plan early. Mr and Mrs Irwin moved their household goods to Keota today to begin new residence there. Mr Irwin is nearly blind and his wife has shouldered most of the living. neighbors say they will be greatly missed.
A concert is set for Friday evening in Smouse's Hall starting at eight o'clock. The program features a children's chorus and choice musical selections. Miss Scofield will be assisted by Mrs. Norton who will sing and Charles Burroughs who will provide violin music.
The railroad selects F. K E. Stewart of Salina Kansas as the new Rock Island agent at this location. He has prior Rock Island service and is expected to arrive by the first of next month.
A famed optician, recently at W. Morris the jeweler's, will be here on September 21 for free adjustments for those fitted then. All others seeking glasses or work should call Monday for service by a skilled professional.

Dr Bruce Martin from Peoria Illinois visited last night.
