Husband forgets wife during five hour drive chaos

County to Sell 19 Acre Tract Near Washington Care Facility
The Washington County Board of Supervisors will auction 18.81 acres of county land northwest of Washington at 1 p.m. Sept. 30. The parcel, bordered by highway one, county home road, and the Rock Island railroad, was idle and bequested but now will be offered after bids were received. A nearby 12.61-acre tract sold for $63,365 last March to local businessmen developing a motel.

Iowa's plan expands interstate and primary highway work with 152.6 million in funding for projects across northern and southern Iowa. Freeway 520 through northern Iowa reactivates at 20.4 million, Freeway 592 in Mahaska and Marion counties at 11 million, and a first step on a 32 million Dubuque freeway. Linn County receives 38.7 million for I 380. Polk County funds are cut by 648 thousand. The five year plan, boosted by federal changes, aims to start by June 20.
