Sandbagged in Kalona. robbery leaves man near-fatal
Hugh Ayers was attacked from behind near Kalona by two men during an evening walk to a livery barn. He was unconscious for hours and later recovered enough to recount the assault. Robbery was the motive. $8.10 taken. Sheriff Teeter posted a $50 reward and descriptions of the suspects were issued.
