A 450 acre Lake Darling will be officially dedicated at 2 15 PM on Sunday September 17 with J N Ding Darling present to close the valve and start impounding waters The lake lies west of Brighton on highway 1 with road signs and patrols to guide visitors The ceremony includes band music guest introductions and talks by conservation leaders and ends with flag raising at the public beach area The event is sponsored by the Washington and Fairfield chapters of the Izaak Walton League

Employment Office Locates 121 Jobs in August
The Iowa State Employment Service office in the city hired 121 persons in August. There were 1048 visits, 47 new applications, 69 follow ups, and 5 job counseling cases. Registration for entrants to the Corn Fiesta Kid's Parade is at 5 30 p m Thursday September 14 at the YMCA. The parade starts 6 30 p m, forms in front of the YMCA, and moves around the square with four divisions dolls bicycle tricycle pets and costumes.
