Two Washington County residents killed in Iowa crash near Sigourney
A two vehicle, one car crash at the junction of highways 92 and 159 seven miles east of Sigourney killed Charles A Raymond 28 of Crawfordsville and Delores Arlene Thomas 19 of Washington Iowa. Five others including June Walton 20 and William L Siegler 24 were hospitalized. The car driven by Walton overturned after failing to negotiate the turn. Funeral arrangements place Raymond at the Jones Funeral Home Washington with burial in Crawfordsville Cemetery and Thomas likely to be at Jones Funeral Home with Elm Grove Cemetery burial.

Shooting Suspect Caught Near Crest Court Keokuk
A shooting suspect wanted for wounding Assistant Police Chief Virgil F. Coovert was captured near Keokuk after his weapon was found close to the scene. Sheriff H. R Delahoyde reported the gun and arrest followed a 10 man posse closing in on the suspect in a wooded area behind Crest Court on the city’s northern outskirts.
