How to test jars for leaks and seals
Jars can be checked for leaks by tilting a Mason screw top to look for leaks. Vacuum sealed jars are tested by tapping the metal lid with a spoon to hear a bell like ring and ensure the lid does not move under pressure. A three piece vacuum seal is proper when the jar lifts by the glass lid without the lid coming off.
