A hail rain and wind storm struck after a dry spell causing extensive damage north and east of Sioux City. Corn devastated by drought and deluge, fields torn and ground covered in five inches of debris. Streams swollen, railroad tracks washed, highways flooded, power and telegraph lines damaged. Estimated losses exceed half a million dollars. Separate cloudburst near Jamison Napier and Boyd Keya Paha counties caused up to fifty thousand dollars in damages to property and livestock and disrupted communication lines. The storm also affected areas in South Dakota near St. Charles.
