Poor man's antique Austin first compact car in town
Jim Peterson of Washington owns a 1934 American Austin, maroon with a 75 inch wheel base and a 13 horsepower engine. He rebuilt it in a year, detailing basement disassembly and reassembly in the yard, then traded for a 1941 pickup destined for a small camper. Peterson enjoys driving it daily despite risks and the tiny five gallon fuel tank.
