Czech airliner crashes near Canadian tracks after takeoff
An airliner from Prague crashed today near an airport, plummeting into a marsh and skidding onto Canadian National Railway tracks. Witnesses said power was lost after takeoff and the Soviet-built four engine plane burst into flames on impact, scattering wreckage across about a mile. Fire crews found two men near the crash site and the copilot in the marsh as a near train tragedy was averted.

Survivors Mourned After Fire Near Airport Rescue Efforts Continue

DETROIT UPI negotiations between United Auto Workers and Ford Motor resumed with a nationwide strike at midnight Wednesday deemed almost certain.
