Mrs. J. R. Elmore of Des Moines, 23, was hospitalized with neck and back injuries after three separate Sunday accidents near Rock Creek State Park and Baxter. Her husband James, 25, lost control in a ditch, another driver Vic Anderson aided her, and she arrived at the hospital in satisfactory condition. Sheriff Ray Gaylor said charges for failing to keep a vehicle under control and no valid license would be filed.

One Dead Fifty Hurt In Denver Hotel Blaze
A four alarm fire at the Albany Hotel in downtown Denver killed Mrs Stella Lee Bruce a 44 year old waitress and injured about 50 others. The blaze lasting over four hours gutted the basement mezzanine and first two floors of the $4.5 million hotel. Police said many suffered smoke inhalation and minor injuries among firemen guests and employees.

In Des Moines, Louis R. Kennedy backed a car into his garage and it surged through the structure tearing out a fence, grazing a tree, crossing a neighbor’s yard, hitting a stump and railing, then smashing into a house corner.
