Cripple Creek Mines and Pike's Peak Adventure

A Washington letter from Colorado Springs details a group excursion to Cripple Creek and Pike's Peak. They ride 57 miles by rail to Cripple Creek, tour the Moon Anchor mine, descend 800 feet underground, and describe the town’s rough wealth and gambling scene. They then climb Pike's Peak on foot, savoring the views, altitude effects, and rising prices at the summit while noting the scenic highlights along the way.
