Ames Extension Council Members Tour Iowa State University
Washington County Extension Council members spent last Wednesday visiting ISU facilities in Ames. The group included Dennis and Donna Berger Wellman Delbert and Darlene Lewis Crawfordsville Bob and Carol Carter Kalona Bob and Mary Greene and G W McCracken Ainsworth. Jim Frier said the trip aimed to deepen member understanding of university resources and their role in Extension programming. ISU President Robert Parks Extension Dean Marvin Anderson and Charles Donhowe spoke to the delegation. The attendees learned via mini classes about TV teaching college courses off campus Center for Industrial Research and Service and engineering extension. Tours covered campus and off campus sites.

An Agriculture Department study shows major shifts in U S diet from 1950 to the late 1960s. Red meat and poultry intake rose while dairy and eggs fell. Fresh fruit and potato consumption declined, while processed fruit rose. Flour and cereals also declined steadily.

Eastern Iowa Cooperative to Hold 38th Annual Meeting at Wilton Junction
More than 15 000 members are expected to attend the Eastern Iowa Light and Power Cooperative 38th Annual Meeting and Rural Electric Show at Wilton Junction on September 5. The day includes business sessions, a noon director election, a 9 30 a m start, 3 15 p m prize drawings, a beef barbecue with 3000 pounds of beef, and performances by vaudeville acts and CS Singers Culver Stockton College. The event ends with a final prize drawing at 9 p m and 175 attendance prizes total.
