Over Half of Corn Now Safe from Frost

The Cargill crop bulletin says well over half the corn belt crop is safe from frost damage with early fields nearly ripe and stalks drying. Late fields in Nebraska were delayed by excess moisture and hot weather has pushed some to permaturity. Yields expected to be below 1948, and government crop reports will adjust estimates in September. Soybeans progress stays strong but eastern North Dakota rains slowed threshing and combining.
