A blast near the Narrow Gange depot destroyed the office and products. Journeymen and bystanders aided, but fire consumed goods and the building before aid arrived. Burglars fled northward, leaving three drill holes in the safe and an unlocked doorway. Authorities pursue the suspects and tighten rail-line patrols.
A Windsor Grocery Bloomer Contest excerpt mocks fashion changes and promotes Bloomers as a social joke and practical garment. The piece features Patience Presswyper, age 12, and parades gender roles, humor, and shopping advice.
