Six embittered convicts from the El Reno reformatory asked Judge W I Wallace to deport them to the Soviet Union. They hoped to leave for Russia, arguing instutional rights such as freedom of speech. Wallace sentenced each man to an additional three to five years.
President Truman on his campaign train in Lansing says Dwight D. Eisenhower made a casual pledge over coffee that could avert war. He labels the breakfast with Sen. Robert A. Taft a cold blooded deal with the Old Guard and claims it costs Eisenhower his independence in determining defense spending.
Mr and Mrs George Horn attended the Iowa State event in Ames on Tuesday to showcase electricity use on farms. County extension director Tom Robb and Mr Harry Turner of Iowa Southern Utilities were present. The program recognized participating farmers with a campus tour of Town St facilities and new housing projects.

He asks Attorney General James McGranery to probe political pressure or improper methods and whether officials remain on Treasury or Justice payrolls and if the government still could sue for the 4871280 loss.

Berlin officials and American troops report Russian border guards refused passage of eight Patton tanks and related Army cargo on the westernbound train through Soviet-occupied territory. The move follows prior shipments that included six tanks two weeks earlier, with Russians varingly blocking buses and armor from entering Western zones.
