Wilkesbarre and Scranton observed Mitchell Day as mines closed for a mass display. About 10,000 miners filled streets with John Mitchell badges and banners urging arbitration and unity while President Mitchell spoke. A commission to study anthracite mining practice arrived with 25 Erie Company accountants to prep data for the inquiry.
Scranton reports the anthracite strike commission arrived to inspect mines and miners homes. T. H.
