Mrs. Anna Thomas of Columbus City Dies at 84

Columbus Junction mourns the death of Anna Thomas 84 born January 18 1878 near Columbus City. She died October 28 at Muscatine General Hospital. Rites at Harper For Mrs John Crooks 74

Funeral services for Mrs John Helen Crooks 74 will be held Tuesday at 10 am in St Elizabeths Church Harper. She died Saturday morning at a Sigourney rest home after a stroke in August. She and her husband operated the Harper Mutual Telephone Co from 1915 to 1958. Survivors include her husband John two sons Cloyce and John L both of Harper and several grandchildren.

Minor Auto Accident At Site Of New Light

At the intersection of West Madison and South Iowa near Washington’s new traffic signal a minor auto collision occurred Saturday afternoon. Jayanne Coffman of Keota said she failed to see the new light while driving west on West Madison, colliding with Edward Raymond Weeks who had the green light going south on Iowa Avenue. Damages were about $250.

Local Quartet to Sing In All-State Festival

Washington High School earns a place in the all state chorus in Des Moines with a quartet: Leonard Schantz David Everetts Cheryl Keating and Sharon Lowry. The quartet was among 15 selected from 679 audition entries. Vernon Feuerhelm the vocal music teacher accompanies the group to the festival during the Thanksgiving holiday.
