4 H County Jamboree Elects Officers and Awards Tally
The 4 H County Jamboree at Washington High School drew 300 plus members and friends for the election of county officers and awards. Harold Murphy of Lime Creek Livewires was named county president. Nancy Wilson of Busy Bees is county girls president. Other officers include Jack Foster for Jackson Boys Club. Bernard Bartholow for Washington Hustlers. Larry OConnor for Highlanders. Gwenth Ann Jones for Clover Leaf. Linda Gerdes for Hi-Ores. Linda McKinstry for Cinderellas. Retiring presidents presided. Awards were presented by Mrs. Ornduff and Mrs. Ponstout for girls and George Dare for boys, recognizing achievements in beautification, clothing, and agriculture.

In Hohenwald Tennessee two teen brothers Dexter Kimmons 15 and James Kimmons 16 say they shot their father Robert J Kimmons Friday night during a quarrel over their mother who had picked 110 pounds of cotton that day The boys told Sheriff Clint Goodman the father threatened their mother with a knife and they used a .32 caliber revolver one shot from Dexter and two from James killed him Saturday
