Floyd Dean of Columbus Junction was seriously injured when his gravel truck was hit by Rock Island train No. 66 at a crossing one mile north of town. The accident occurred at about 4 10 Saturday afternoon as the sun blinded him. the track was wrecked and he was dragged several rods before the train stopped. Dean, badly bruised with cuts to the head and multiple broken limbs, was taken to Muscatine, remaining unconscious until Sunday.

M Kay Car Theft Suspects Apprehended in County Jail
Clifford George 16 of Ottumwa and Edward Stanley 18 of Detroit are jailed in Washington county awaiting sentence for stealing Milburn McKay s car from in front of the high school last Friday. The spare tire was sold at Brighton to buy gas as they fled toward Ottumwa. The car was found at Ottumwa and the youths were arrested by the Wapello sheriff and brought back. They admit the theft and will plead guilty, arraignment possible before Judge Charles A. Dewey. They traveled here from Muscatine after riding a freight car and scouted cars near the high school.
