Indictment of Wilson brothers in Oskaloosa murder
A grand jury in Oskaloosa indicted Glen Al and Dick Wilson for the murder of Harry Bolden a Black man. Glen Wilson was arrested the night of the killing at the home of Andrew Jackson Rodgers where Bolden had called to bid goodby. Bolden died from a blow to the head after a brawl last June.

Funeral services for Mrs Mararet Stafford
Funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs Mararet Stafford 100 longtime Montgomery county resident praised as the best woman citizen. She died Sunday and is survived by two daughters Mrs Charles Eacks on Red Oak and Mrs H E Burnison of Indianola with a lifelong admiration for Abraham Lincoln and early support for the prepublican ticket.

Iowa Near Salvage Goal for 1942
Des Moines reports Iowa exceeded expectations in a three week scrap drive ending last Saturday and is close to meeting the six month 1942 quota. Herbert Plagman, executive secretary of the state salvage organization, says July 1 to now totals 232000 tons, 13000 tons short of the 245000 ton half year target. He adds the state should reach the goal with two months remaining.

Proposals On Manpower Told By McNutt
War manpower chief Paul McNutt said a new bill set to reach the president within two weeks would mobilize men and women for WWII. He argued current bills lack essential powers to require employer hiring through a central agency and to control labor use and transfers. A moderate to strong quake shook southern California with the Imperial Valley near the Mexican border hardest hit.
