U S Vessels Ordered to Near East for Syrian Ports
Two American destroyers were diverted from Gibraltar to Alexandria Egypt to stay ready for use in Syrian ports if needed to protect American lives and property amid the revolt in Syria. The move followed a request from American consul Paul Knabenshue in Beirut and was communicated to Vice Admiral Roger Wells who commands the European squadron.
