Luetgert jurors discharged after sixty hours of deadlock

After sixty hours of wrangling the Luetgert jury could not reach a verdict and was discharged by Judge Tuthill. The state had nearly secured a tenth man over, but Harley Belmiller and Holabird held firm, leading to a hung jury amid city excitement.

Miss Grace Adams and Niel W. Uhl of Cameron Missouri wed at the bride’s parents home in East Washington. The ceremony with Mendelssohn’s wedding march was conducted by Rev W G Thorn before a small gathering, followed by a wedding supper for twelve. The couple plan to live in Cameron, where Uhl is a bank cashier.

Wedding of Converse Bradford and Hattie Foster

At noon yesterday the wedding of Converse Bradford and Hattie Foster occurred at the bride’s parents home near Wellman. Rev Newsome of the Wellman Methodist church officiated. One hundred guests attended from Keota Wellman and the city and the couple will live on Bradford’s father's farm as his father retires to Wellman.

Washington High football team discussion and meeting notice

Merton Teeter received a letter from Fred Emry manager of the Brighton High School Athletic Association asking if Washington High School has a football team and mentioning a possible game this season if only Washington’s members play. An Equal Rights Association meeting is set for tomorrow Friday October 22 at 2 30 at Col and Mrs Scofield’s home, all interested invited.

City ward registration boards meet for upcoming vote

Four ward registration boards convened with sessions planned tomorrow and next Saturday to register voters moving between wards and new city residents. Registrars in each ward list include Tripp and Stewart, Massey and Gray, Wolf and Stichter, and Springman and Folger. About a dozen changes expected per ward. early registrations show low numbers. Washington Iowa Board of Registers Sets Voter List Corrections

The Washington Iowa board of registers schedules sessions on October 21 2 1807 and October 22 1807 to correct and update the general election register and register new electors. On election day the board will meet 7 am to 6 pm at locations in each ward to issue certificates to absent or corrected voters. Electors must be registered in their ward to vote.
