Editorials and a bold defence of American ideals
A Washington Journal page mixes a Thought for the Day on moral doubt with a Reader’s stand on national pride. It cites an Iowa Southern Utilities questionnaire for consumer input and reflects on clock delays in town, then features a Honolulu column urging staunch patriotism and defense of the flag and nation against critics and “hippies,” praising diverse American figures and calling for unity.
Well-Dressed Girls Are to Wear Pants
A column discusses fashion designers pushing pants for women while noting older, well-off shoppers seek flattering options. It observes that mature women outnumber teens five to one and have buying power but still struggle to find suitable clothing. The piece adds quips on labor rates and other light topics.
