Homer Payne Dies at His Wayland Home
Homer Payne died at his Wayland home at 5 p.m. Wednesday after a stroke. Funeral services are set for 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Payne residence with Zehr Funeral Home handling arrangements. Rev. Paul Textor and Rev. Simon Gingerich will lead the service. Burial will be in Finley cemetery. He was born December 16, 1885, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Miles Payne, and survived by wife Grace Hixson, one sister Mrs. Harry Bain, and two brothers Edgar and Asa, all of Wayland. two brothers preceded him in death.

Suit for 51000 Is Settled Out of Court
Iowa City (UP) The $51 000 damage suit by widow Stella Davelis and son Thomas against brothers Lons and George Baculis ended with an out of court settlement for $7 500 after two days of testimony. Davelis died Oct 12 from stab wounds. A murder charge against Baculis remains pending, and trial was delayed by the civil suit.

Dorothy Heitz Dies at St. Marys Rectory in Riverside
Dorothy Elizabeth Heitz aged 48 died Wednesday at St Marys Rectory Riverside where she had served as housekeeper for Rev Thomas Wolfe for 23 years after an 18 month illness. She was born November 19 1893 in Fort Madison and survived by her mother five sisters and three brothers.
